White Pigeon; Eugene F. HOFFELDER, 91, 16692 U.S. 12, died March 18, 1991, at the Three Rives Area Hospital, following a short illness.
She was born Sept. 24, 1899, in Waterloo, Ind., a son of Peter and Catherine (SLUSHER) HOFFELDER.
On Feb. 11, 1928, he married Pauline R. HALL, in Sturgis.
He was a White Pigeon resident since July 4, 1937, coming from Sturgis. During his early life, he lived in Oklahoma and Indiana. He was a farmer most of his life, retiring in 1962. He also had been employed several years at McCray Company, Kendallville, Ind. He was a member of the American Association of Retired persons and a past member of the St. Michaelâ??s Catholic Church, Waterloo, the St. Joseph County Zoning Board and the St. Joseph County ASCS. He also had served as a 4-H leader.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. George (Susan A.) HORN Jr., Union; one son, Don E. HOFFELDER, Burr Oak; eight grandchildren, Daniel HOFFELDER, Three Rivers, David and Bethany HOFFELDER, both of Burr Oak, Ann WINNEROSKI, Indianapolis, Ind., Tammy Oâ??ROURKE, Elkhart, Ind., Marcy Oâ??ROURKE, Ryan and Adam HORN, all of Union; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. James (Elizabeth) BAIRD, Norman, Okla.; two brothers, Phil HOFFELDER, White Pigeon, and Sylvester HOFFELDER, Norman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and four brothers.
Relatives and friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Farrand Funeral Home, White Pigeon, where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today and 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ray Cunningham, Union Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation will follow.
Memorials may be directed to the family for the Eugene F. HOFFELDER Memorial Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
