Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Business. He was commissioned in June 1941 as second lieutenant of Anti Aircraft in the U.S. Army and assigned to the Southern Defense Command in Panama. He was reassigned to the Inspector General's Department until 1946 when he resigned with the rank of major. His career with Bell Telephone Co. of PA began in 1946 and in 1975 he was elected officer and treasurer of Bell Telephone Co. of PA and the Delaware Telephone Co. He married Mildred Anna Treusch in 1943 and their marriage lasted until 1995 when Mildred died in a car accident. He was ordained as a Presbyterian Elder in 1962. The Nagels retired to Palm Coast, FL in 1978 where he served as president of the Palm Coast Lions Club. They relocated to John Knox Village in Pompano Beach in 1994 where he served on the Village Board of Directors and as a Trustee for the First Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach. He traveled extensively, including 12 world cruises. He is survived by his son, Arthur Nagel; his daughter Chris Nagel; his brother Robert Nagel; grand children Jennifer Nagel McCracken, Joseph Nagel and Stephanie Feeley; and greatgrandchildren Eric and Nathan McCracken. A memorial service will be held on October 2nd at 11 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach, 2331 NE 26th Avenue, Pompano Beach. Phone: 954-941-2308.
