BETTY J. (CLAYTON) HAZELWONDER , age 75, of Amboy, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, in her home. Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at 10 a.m. in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy, with the Rev. Frank Daleiden, officiating. Burial followed in St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation was on Monday, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Mrs. Hazelwonder was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Peoria, the daughter of Earl and Fannie (Robbins) Clayton. She married Frank Hazelwonder on Nov. 2, 1972, in Dixon. Survivors include her husband of Amboy; four daughters, Kathy (Ed) Blake of Las Vegas, Linda (Bill) Oester, Rita Whelchel and Janice McAnally, all of Amboy; two step-sons, Ed Zimmerly of Dixon and Daryl ?Chuck? Zimmerly of Amboy; special friend June Penhollow Heaton of Dixon; grandchildren, Anisa Blake Kierczynski, Jeffery Blake, Melissa Blake Simpson, Thomas Oester, Christopher Oester, Tina Whelchel Howell, Chad Whelchel, Cory Zimmerly, Angie Zimmerly Mills, Dwayne Zimmerly and Nicole Zimmerly Landrus; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Robert Clayton. She had been employed as a secretary at the State Farm Insurance office in Amboy for 21? years prior to her retirement in 1993. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy. She served on the board of directors of Pankhurst Memorial Library for 15 years, eight as board secretary. She spent three years with the Grandparents Program at Amboy Central School.
