Caddy Killed By Golf Club At Big Springs
Walks Into Stick Swung By Friend
A skull fracture suffered when he was struck by a golf club which another caddy was swinging brought death to William Kuprion, 14, of 407 Shelby Parkway, at 1:15 p.m. yesterday at Big Springs Golf Club.
The boy was said to have walked into the swinging club held by Frank Bluel, 15, of 502 E. St. Catherine, who was standing at No. 1 tee awaiting his party, it was learned by Dr. John M. Keaney, coroner. The iron struck him just below the left ear.
Father Is With Seabees
Kuprion was taken to the base hospital at Bowman Field, which adjoins Big Springs Club, but was found to be dead. The youth was a first-year student at St. Xavier High School and had been a caddy at Big Springs two years. Bluel, also a St. Xavier student, was a close friend of Kuprion and also had caddied there for two years.
Survivors are William's mother, Mrs. John Schmitt; a brother, Robert Kuprion, and a sister, Miss Mary Louise Kuprion. He is also survived by his father, Al Kuprion, former Herald-Post and Cincinnati Enquirer photographer now with the Seabees in the South Pacific.
