DIEHL, John Henry
b: 1806
d: 1889
The Monroe Gazette, Woodsfield, Ohio Friday, Apr 12 1889 - On last Friday, April 5th, another of Center Township's oldest and most highly esteemed citizens - Mr. Henry Diehl - was called to that "undiscovered country from whose bourne no traveler returns". Mr. Diehl was born at Middleseman, Germany, April 6th, 1806, and lacked but one day of being 83 years old. In 1837 he came to America and settled at Pittsburg, Pa. In 1856 after residing in Pittsburg 19 years, he removed to Barber Ridge, Monroe County, where he resided 18 years. Mr. Diehl was married twice. His first wife's name was Elizabeth Walter, and his second wife's name was Stoffle. They are both dead. After the death of his last wife, some fourteen or fifteen years ago, he broke up house keeping on Barber Ridge and resided with his son William until his death. For 33 years he had been a faithful member of the Lutheran Church. His remains were taken to the Barber Ridge cemetery for internment last Sunday, followed by many loving friends and acquaintances.
