Weisend PORT CLINTON, Ohio ? Eugene P. Weisend, 89, of Port Clinton died Thursday (Dec. 27, 2007) at his residence. He was born on Nov. 11, 1918, in Waterford, Ohio, to William and Carol Lauer Weisend.He graduated from Waterford High School in 1936. On Nov. 25, 1937, in Marietta, Ohio, he married Mary Waterman and she survives. Eugene worked as a terminal manager for Motor Express in Sandusky, Ohio, for many years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of LaPointe United Methodist Church, Port Clinton Elks Lodge 1718, and Port Clinton Oliver H. Perry Masonic Lodge 341, F&AM. Eugene enjoyed woodworking, especially on birdhouses; reading; and golfing. He also spent 24 years in Mesa, Ariz., for the winters, put out a garden every year and gave a lot of his time to the church as a grounds keeper.In addition to his loving wife of 70 years, Mary, survivors include sons, Robert (Kay) Weisend of Michigan, James (Dorothy) Weisend of Arizona, and Patrick (Debbie) Weisend of Tennessee; daughter, Sandra Drickhamer of Avon, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Winifred Harra and Juanita Meyers; and brother, Billy Weisend.He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Leonard, Paul and Les Vernon ?Doc? Weisend.Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 29, 2007) at LaPointe United Methodist Church with visitation two hours prior to the services from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in LaCarpe Cemetery in LaCarne, Ohio.
