Ashton J. Weisend, 89
ZANESVILLE - Ashton J. Weisend, 89, of Zanesville, died at9:44 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at Genesis Hospice, Morrison House, after a short illness.
He was born Thursday, May 25, 1916, in East Liverpool, the son of Nicholas P.and Marcella A. Nauer Weisend. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and retired from Matesich Distributing in May 1981 as a sales represenative. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 505, American Legion Zanesville Post 29 and Teamsters Retiree Club. He also served his country as an Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife Jane I. McCoy Weisend of the home, whom he married Saturday,Aug. 28, 1943; a daughter, Patricia (Charles) Perone of Zanesville; a son, Tom (Valerie) Weisend of Westerville; five grandchildren, Pam Perone, John (Kris) Perone, Elizabeth (Craig) Mirgon, Nicholas and Kira Weisend; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Weisend ofWoodsfield and Norbert Weisend of Meridian, Idaho; five sisters, Elizabeth Ramsey of Zanesville, Mildred Carpenter of Delaware, Rose Blackburn of Houston, Texas, Catherine Alvis of Houston, Texas and Mary Ritterbeck of Akron.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; and a sister.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave., with Christian Vigil services at 3 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Father Robert Kitsmiller as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Olive Cemetery.
