  [S927] Obituary. 1953Deku, Henry J.Source--News ClippingPublished--1953Solemn Requiem High Mass was sung in St. Peter's Church,Steubenville, Wednesday morning, 10:30 o'clock for Henry J. Deku, 80, who died Sunday morning, February 21, 1953 at 7:20 o'clock in the Gill Memorial Hospital, Steubenville, after a brief illness. Msgr. Henry J. Grigsby was the celebrant of the Mass.Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.Mr. Deku was born in Wheeling, W.Va., December 4, 1873, the son of the late Christian and Eva Deku. He was a retired barber. Mr. and Mrs. Deku resided in Woodsfield for several years. Since leaving here they resided at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Francis O'Leary at 204 North Street, Steubenville.He was a member of St. Peter's Church, the League of the Sacred Heart and the Barber's Local Union No. 226.Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Veronica Burkhardt Deku; two daughters, Sister M. Lucia, O.P. of New Haven , Connecticut, and Mrs. Francis O'Leary, of Steubenville; three sons, Robert Deku of Toronto; Frank Deku, of Beaver, Pa., and Charles Deku, of Lincoln Park, MI.; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
