Dr. John Pacek Jr.

Dr. John Pacek Jr., 78, of Harmar, formerly of Natrona Heights, Harrison, died Saturday (March 27, 2004) at Amber Woods at Harmar Village, Harmar.
He was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Tarentum.
He was a 1943 graduate of Tarentum High School and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1948 and a degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1956.
A veteran, he served with the Navy from 1944 to 1946 as a pharmacist mate 1st class and operating room technician.
Dr. Pacek maintained a family practice in Tarentum from 1957 to 1981. He was an emergency room physician from 1970 to 1981, a senior staff physician and served from 1981 until retiring in 1985 as medical director of the emergency room department at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. He was medical director of Georgian Manor Nursing Home, Brackenridge, a course director of ambulance and emergency medical technician training, and a school and team physician at Highlands School District and North Catholic High School, Pittsburgh. Dr. Pacek also held a real estate license, designed and constructed several buildings including the Professional Center on Fourth Avenue and owned and operated a grocery store, all in Tarentum.
He was a member of the American Medical Association, Pennsylvania Medical Association, Armstrong County Medical Society, American Academy of Family Physicians and Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Worship Site, Natrona Heights, and the former St. Clement Roman Catholic Church, Tarentum. He also was a member of the Tarentum Elks.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Veiock Pacek; three sons, Alan Pacek of Indiana, Pa., Glenn Pacek of Chicago, and Daniel Pacek of Leonia, N.J.; and a brother, Dr. Robert (Joyce) Pacek of Natrona Heights.
He also is survived by a grandson, Adam Pacek.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ana Gazo Pacek; and a brother, Edward Pacek.
At the request of Dr. Pacek, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Most Blessed Sacrament Worship Site, Natrona Heights. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alle-Kiski Health Foundation, 2217 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065. Arrangements are under the care of CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights.
