GALION -- Howard D. Fyock, 72, of 795 N. Liberty St. died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at home after a long illness.
Mr. Fyock was born in Templeton, Pa., on Feb. 22, 1932, to the late Percy and Bertha Burkey Fyock. He married the former Doloris A. Aharrah on June, 18, 1954, in Templeton and she survives him.
He was a 1950 graduate of Kittanning High School and had been an area resident since 1963 after moving from Summerville, Pa.
He was employed by PPG until his retirement in 1989 after 26 years of service, and also as a general contractor.
Mr. Fyock was a member of First Baptist Church, Galion, and was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed painting landscapes and murals, and taught painting for Madison High School Adult Education.
Mr. Fyock loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey and Christine Fyock and Gary Fyock, all of Galion; four grandchildren, Jessica and Jason Lozier and Molly and Collin Rush, all of New Bremen, and Daniel Fyock of Galion; a great-granddaughter, Madison Lozier; five brothers, Justin and Lois Fyock of Collins Center, N.Y., Ernest and Obreda Fyock of Templeton, Jack and Nancy Fyock of Rochester, Mass., Edwin and Shirley Fyock of Worthington, Pa., and Harry and Jean Fyock of Hamburg, N.Y.; and a sister, Nancy and Daryl Galbraith of Summerville, Pa.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Ann Fyock; three brothers, Donald, Boyd and James Fyock; two sisters, Lois Walker and Sara Schull.
Friends may call Friday, July 23, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, with the Rev. James Randas officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church or HomeCare Matters Hospice in care of the funeral home.
