OBITUARY - Harold Edward Yockey, the second son of Thurman and Elizabeth Prine Yockey, was born Jan. 18, 1921, died Dec. 27, 1971, age 50yrs 11mos and 9 days. On Dec. 29, 1953 he married to Erma Jean Haas, to this union was born two daughters Cindy Lou and Dixie Lee. He was a pilot in the Air Force 1942 to 1944, was a second lieutenant. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, his father and step-mother; two brothers Donald and Delmar and two sisters Freda Ruth Hendrixson and Catherine Bush; preceded him in death were his mother and one brother Vernon Walter who died as an infant.
Brown County Newspaper--20 January 1972: HAROLD EDWARD YOCKEY, second son of Thurman and Elizabeth Prine Yockey was born January 18, 1921 and entered into heavenly rest on December 27, 1971, at the age of fifty years, eleven months and nine days. He was baptized at the age of five days by the Rev. William Frey, then the minister of the Arnheim Peace Lutheran Church. He was confirmed in the Peace Lutheran Church on May 31, 1936.
On December 29, 1953, he was united in marriage to Erma Jean Haas. Two daughters, Cindy Lou and Dixie Lee came to bless this happy home.
He served his country as a pilot, in the United States Air Force from December 14, 1942 until June 26, 1944 being discharged with the rank of Second Lieutenant. He was a member of the Walter Miller Legion Post and the Auxiliary State Patrol.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters, his father, step-mother, two brothers Donald and Delmar, and two sisters, Freda Ruth Hendrixson and Catherine Bush. Preceding him in death were his mother and one brother, Vernon Walter who died as an infant.
Harold was a man's man, respected by many friends and deeply loved by his family.
