Sylvia C. Frick, 91, of Greece, N.Y., died on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at St. Ann?s Home.
Sylvia was born on June 19, 1917, to John and Catherine Mandery in Rochester. In 1949, Sylvia married Frederick Frick at St. Boniface Church on Gregory Street. In 1950 Mr. Frick died tragically in an auto accident prior to the birth of their son, Frederick. Sylvia worked as a seamstress at Vaisey?s Shoe Factory (Buster Brown style shoes) and sewed and knitted as a hobby and as a livelihood.
Sylvia started a chapter of T.O.P.S. (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) in Greece and worked with children at the Al Sigl Center. She also was very involved with and was the past president of the Eagles Club on Buffalo Road.
Predeceased by her husband, Frederick, she leaves her son, Frederick (Caroline); grandchildren, Jeremiah (Sarah), Jonathan (Nicole) and Julie; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jonathan; sisters, Alma Newman and Rita Morrill; brother, George Mandery; nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was celebrated on Thursday, Sept. 11, at St. Ann?s Chapel with the Rev. Robert Bradler officiating. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Life Center, c/o Holy Trinity Church, 1460 Ridge Road, Webster, NY 14580. Arrangements by Willard H. Scott Funeral Home.
