Obituary: The Littlefields
Tuesday, Aug. 23 ~ Richard and Kathleen Littlefield of Tarpon Springs, Fla., former longtime Ridgefielders, died of natural causes within a week of each other in July.
Kathleen Nauer Littlefield died Wednesday, July 20, at her home. She was 79 years old.
Richard Sands Littlefield died Wednesday, July 27, at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs. He was 76 years old.
The Littlefields lived on Flat Rock Drive from 1965 until retiring to Block Island in 1993. In 2000, they moved to Tarpon Springs where they had wintered for some years.
They had been members of the First Congregational Church.
Mrs. Littlefield was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and had been a real estate broker in Ridgefield and Rhode Island. On Block Island, she was also was a lighthouse attendant, constable and game warden from 1985 to 2000.
She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tarpon Springs and the Harbor Baptist Church of Block Island.
Mr. Littlefield was born in Wakefield, R.I., and had worked for 37 years in sales and marketing for the 3M Company.
He was a marine historian and served as a docent at the North Light lighthouse in Block Island and as a docent for the Inness paintings exhibit at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tarpon Springs.
He was also a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church and the Harbor Baptist Church in Block Island.
The Littlefields? survivors include two daughters, Paula Littlefield Navas of Tarpon Springs and Andrea Hellman of Miami and Tarpon Springs; a son, Christopher Littlefield of Block Island; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Littlefield is also survived by three brothers, William of New York City, Donald of Block Island and Brad of Milford; and a sister, Isobel ?Sissy? Shapleigh of Westborough, Mass.
Vinson Funeral Home of Tarpon Springs was in charge of arrangements.
