WOODSFIELD - John S. Spangler, 82, of the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, formerly of Lewisville and Newbury, died Sunday , January 27, 2002 at the home.
He was born June 8, 1919, in Lewisville, son of the late Theodore and Philomena (Kuhn) Spangler.
Mr. Spangler was a retired electrician and a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, Newbury.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as corporal during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria T. (Gruber) Spangler, on Sept. 26, 1986; and three brothers, Carl Spangler, Lawrence Spangler and Roman Spangler.
He leaves two sons, Joseph Spangler of Newbury and Christopher Spangler of Chardon; a brother, Herman Spangler of Canton; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church near Lewisville, with the Rev. Father David Gaydosik serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, near Lewisville.
