Bio: Edith Elizabeth {Keevert} Krepps, 99, of Winfield, KS, passed away October 9, 2017 at Wm. Newton Hospital in Winfield. Edith was born September 16, 1918 in Towanda, KS, the daughter of Paul & Hattie {Stanley} Keevert.On January 27, 1934 in Wellington, KS she was united in marriage to Willard Wayne Krepps, who preceded her in death on June 27, 1988. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Kay Kennedy, a daughter, Wayneva (Nonie) Opperman, son-in-laws, Richard Starlin and Bob Opperman, and a granddaughter, Sunni Stumpff. Edith received her education in various rural schools, and Winfield High School. She and Wayne made their home on a farm north of Winfield, where they farmed for 34 years. In 1968, they moved to Cassville, MO, where they owned and operated Rainbow Motel and Dinner House. In 1978, they sold the businesses and moved back to Winfield to retire. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was an ordained deacon since October 6, 1991, an award winner in the Kansas Author?s Club, a member of the Janet Hodson Circle, a Red Cross volunteer, and a Foster Grandparent at Whittier school. In 2011, she became an honorary life member of Presbyterian women. Some of her favorite things were reading, sewing, creative writing, and she also loved to dance. The one thing she loved most was spending time with her family. Surviving are a son, Ray Krepps and his wife, Janice, of Winfield, KS, two daughters, Chalea Starlin, of Oxford, KS, and Gaye Stumpff and her husband, Roger, of Cassville, MO, nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren. Services were held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Miles Funeral Home. Burial in Highland Cemetery in Winfield.A memorial has been established in Edith?s name for Kindred Hospice.
