Edward Carpenter
Edward L. Carpenter, 80, of Ravenna, died Monday at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born Sept. 30, 1917 in Akron, he was the son of Ora and Martha (Martin) Carpenter. He had lived in Ravenna most of his life.
Mr. Carpenter retired in 1976 from North American Rockwell Corporation in Newton Falls, where he was an inspector.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ravenna, Unity Masonic Lodge No. 12 in Ravenna and York Rite Bodies and Ravenna Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, No. 46.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte (Keevert), to whom he was married 60 years; son, Thomas (June) of Augusta, Ga.; daughters, Judith Lynn Perrine of Houston, Texas and Lu Ann (Clifford) Sage of Rootstown; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Pauline Hensley of Hudson. His brothers, Monroe and Douglas, and sisters, Beatrice Carpenter, Opal Corkrean, Mary Williams and Dorothy Hickman, died previously.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until services at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Masonic services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Tom Poremba will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
