Leona J. Kochert Walter, 75, died Tuesday at her home. She was a native of New Salisbury, a retired nurse at the old St. Anthony's Hospital in Louisville and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Madonna Circle of her church and the senior citizens clubs of OLPH, St. Michael Bradford and St. Mary's Lanesville. Survivors include three sons, Ronnie J. Kochert of Columbus and Larry E. and Stephen P. Kochert; two daughters, Jane M. Timberlake of Corydon and Margaret A. Kochert; four stepsons, Richard, Edward, Kevin and Charles Walter; six stepdaughters, Bernadine Walter, Susan Wilson, Pam Wermuth, Margaret Walter, Laura Selby and Annette Smith; a sister, Marie Schroeder of Bradford; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several step grand and great-grandchildren. Services are 10 a.m. tomorrow at the church, with burial in St. Michael Bradford Cemetery. Visitation is noon to 8 p.m. today at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street. Memorial gifts may go to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Leona J. Kochert Walter, 75, New Albany, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, at her home. A native of New Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Margaret Kiesler Fessel. She was a retired nurse at the old St. Anthony's Hospital in Louisville; and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Madonna Circle and the Senior Citizens Club, both at her church, and at St. Michael's Church in Bradford and St. Mary's in Lanesville. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph H. Kochert and Stephen A. Walter. Survivors include three sons, Larry E. and Stephen P. Kochert, both of New Albany and Ronnie J. Kochert of Columbus; two daughters, Jane M. Timberlake of Corydon and Margaret A. Kochert of New Albany; 10 step children, Richard, Edward, Kevin, Charles, Bernadine and Margaret Walter, Susan Wilson, Pam Wermeuth, Laura Shelby and Annette Smith; a sister, Marie Schroeder of Bradford; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. The funeral was Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial in St. Michael Bradford Cemetery. Kraft Funeral Service in New Albany handled the arrangements. The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
