  [S927] Obituary. t the time of the 1850 census, 26 year old German born farmer John Wysant lived in Centre Twp. Monroe County, Ohio with his wife Fredericka (20) and daughters Margaret (2) and Mary (8 mos). John and his wife were born in Germany; his daughters were born in Ohio. John's farm was valued at $1000. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to Jacob Steambert and Frederick Bruman. Two pages preceding John in the census was John's uncle, 72 year old Jacob Wysant (Weisend) Sr. By 1860, 36 year old farmer John J. Wisent had moved to Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his 30 year old wife Fredricka and five children: Mary (11), Alex (7), Virginia (5), Joseph (3), and Leonia (1). Only Mary attended school. Also living with the family was 17 year old John Miller. (John Miller was probably the son of Mary Weisent's future father-in-law Henry Joseph Miller. His brother J. Leonard Miller married John Weisent's oldest surviving daughter.) At the time of the 1870 census, John Wesner (46) and his pregnant wife Fredrika (40) were still living in Enoch Twp. with their eight surviving children Mary (20), Alexader (17), Rachel (15), Joseph (13), George (7), Leonora (5), Catherina (3) and Matilda (1). (Five other children died prior to 1870.) John Weisent's birthplace is given as France, and Fredrika's is Hesse Cassel. The children were all born in Ohio. John Weisent could not read or write. His wife could read, but not write. Alex, Rachel, Joseph and George attended school. Adjacent farms in the census were those of Michael Schott and August Dimmerling. In June 1880, John Wisant (56) and his wife Fredrica (50) lived in Enoch Twp. with seven children: Virginia (24), John Joseph (23), George (17), Rosali Lenora (15), Catherine G. (13), Matilda (11), Elizabeth (9), and Margaret (6). All the children attended school except Margaret (the youngest), Regina, and John (the oldest two). The children living at home were all born in Ohio. John's birthplace is given as Alsace, and Fredrica's is Hesse. The Weisent farm was located between the households of John D. Gerst and William Vaughn. John Weisnt's daughter, Mary Weisent Miller (wife of J. Leonard Miller) lived three households away. Widower John J. Wicent lived with his daughter Regina Heppner at the time of the 1900 and 1910 census. He was born in Germany and came to America in 1832, when he was about 8 years old.
