- BIOGRAPHY:
Martha Edith Campbell, 88, died at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Ill. She was born Oct. 16, 1915, in Hamburg, to Walter and Xena (Blackorby) Graham.She married James Elmer Campbell in Bowling Green, Mo., on Aug. 31, 1933. He died July 27, 1989.She worked at Western Cartridge Co. for a short time. She loved square dancing and was an avid piano player. She was a member of the Alton First Southern Baptist Church.Survivors include her daughter, Staff Sgt. Pamela Sue Campbell of Springfield, Ill.; a son, Ronald D. Campbell and wife, Erlinda, of Vancouver, Wash.; a grandchild, Lt. Geneen Campbell of Landstuhl, Germany; and one brother, Olin Graham of Hettick. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Norris and Earl Graham, and three sisters, Freda Hazelwonder, Gladys Richie and Alma Cairns.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Dr. Kenneth Morgan will officiate.Burial will be at Indian Creek Cemetery in Calhoun County.Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
