SAINT LOUIS ? Flora K. Denton Vessell passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012, at the age of 56. She was born on October 30, 1955, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of the late Clayton and Blanche Ehrstein. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Ehrstein.
Flora's work history included administration manager for Valley Mineral Products, St. Louis, Mo.; administration manager for Resco Products, Bonne Terre, Mo.; manager of Shawnee Development, Southern Illinois; sales representative for Cajun Bag and Supply in Crowley, La.; broker for Edward Jones, Lansdale, Pa.; and Owner/Vice President of Vessell Mineral Products Corporation, VMPC Resources, VMPC Development, VMPC Recreational, and Stone Park of Bonne Terre.
Flora was the founder of My Sister's Place and My Sister's Place Too in Bonne Terre. She was a member of the Bonne Terre Chamber of Commerce, Board Member for the SEMO Family Violence Council in Bonne Terre, and Board Member for the Women's Shelter in Lansdale, Pa.
Flora is survived by her husband, Royce Vessell; stepchildren, Lauren Vessell, of Holts Summit, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Dan and Krista (Vessell) O'Brien of St. Louis, Mo.; and Chad Vessell, of St. Louis, Mo.; nephews Shawn Ehrstein and Michael Ehrstein, Wichita, Ks.; cousins Mary Ehrstein, Ellicott City, Md., and Robert Ehrstein, Grand Chain, Ill., and numerous relatives and friends, including her USA teammates and international competitors in the "Over the Pond" Ryder Cup golf competitions.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012, from 3-7 p.m. at Cave House at Stone Park, 8614 Berry Road, Bonne Terre, Mo. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to My Sister's Place Too, P.O. Box 420 Bonne Terre, Mo. 63628.
