CAM B. ALLPHIN
DONNA ? Cam B. Allphin, 94, entered into eternal rest on Dec. 1, 2005, at John Knox Village Nursing Home in Weslaco. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a Donna community businessman and leader. Mr. Allphin was born in Midway, Texas on Feb. 25, 1911. On Sept. 27, 1931, he married Clara L. Kochert and moved to Donna where they lived and raised their children for 58 years. He was preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers and wives, Clara Kochert and Kathryn Turner.
A longtime businessman, Mr. Allphin owned and operated the local Texaco Consignee. He served the Donna community as a city commissioner from 1968 to 1976. He served as a Donna fire chief for one year and as a volunteer firefighter for 20 years. Over the years, Mr. Allphin was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Donna Lions Club and Rotary Club. He is survived by a sister, Sara Van Allen of Casson, Miin.; daughter, daughter, JoAnn (Lloyd) Oberg of Raymondville, Texas, and Janet (Calvin) Gulley of Austin; sons, Gayle (Carol) Allphin, Gary (Kathy) Allphin of Donna. He is survived by grandchildren, Mary Jo Brisnahan, Tracy, Darren and Damon Allphin, Steven, Daniel, Timothy, Connie Gulley, Mark Scott, and Jeff Allphin, as well as six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving companion Hattie Unland.
Pallbearers are nephews, Walter Van Allen, Gorden Van Allen, Myron Venable, and grandsons, Tracy Allphin, Scott Allphin and Micheal Brisnahan.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, Dec. 6, 2005, with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. at Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel in Donna, Texas. Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Donna. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Vaughan Funeral Home in Donna.
