He was a retired partner of the Henry J. Gerst and Sons Sash Co. in Youngstown, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Michael's Church. Survivors include a brother, Robert of Canfield; and three sisters, Doris, Luella and Alice Gerst, all of Canfield. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred. Services were held at St. Michael's Church. Arrangements were handled by Lane-Williams Funeral Home.
