Jack G. Gatten
Longtime ironworker enjoyed fishing
Jack G. Gatten, 74, of Washington, died Monday, November 17, 2008, in his home, following a two-year illness.
He was born February 11, 1934, in Washington, a son of Clarance Thomas Gatten and Dorothy Veiock Gatten.
For more than 50 years, Mr. Gatten was an ironworker and member of Local 3 in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Gatten was a member of Church of Christ.
He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 127, Anawana Club and LOOM 22, where he earned a Pilgrim degree and served multiple terms as governor.
Mr. Gatten enjoyed going to the mountains and fishing.
On January 24, 1972, he married Beverly Louise Kelsey, who survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Jack Reihner Jr. of Washington, Doug Gatten of West Alexander, David Gatten of New York, N.Y., and William (Jen) Reihner and Charles Reihner, both of Washington; three daughters, Janet Pabian and Lisa Gatten, both of Washington, and Amy (Keith) Cox of Meadow Lands; 15 grandchildren, Josh, Megan, Dustin, Jordan, Zachary, Cameron, McKenzie, Jennifer, Christopher, Jimmy, Christina, Preston, Chantel, Brennon and Amanda; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Gary; two sisters, Shirley and Dorothy; and a daughter-in-law, Lori Gatten.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 21, with Bob Davison officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
