LOUDONVILLE -- Carrie Isabelle Miller Young, 89, of 600 South Market St. died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center.
Now home with her Lord, Mrs. Young was born Feb. 26, 1916, in Green Township, Ashland County, the daughter of the late Herschel C. and Mary Weltmer Shambaugh.
She was a 1933 graduate of Perrysville High School and she attended secretarial school in Mount Vernon. She was a resident of the Loudonville area most of her life. She was raised in the Vermillion Baptist Church, and more recently was a member of Loudonville Christian Church.
In May 1934 she married Thomas K. Miller and he died in 1958. In April 1968 she married Ernest F. Young and he died in 2003 after 35 years of marriage.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (Joycelyn) Miller of Loudonville, Virginia Nave of Loudonville, Gertrude (George) Straits of Millersburg, and Susan (Delbert) Howman of Ashland; her stepsons, Wilbert (Judy) Young of Virginia, Lloyd (Linda) Young and Ernest Young Jr., all of Wooster; her grandchildren, Debby Raby, Scott Nave, Teresa Titko, Lisa DeWitt, Shelley Costello, Stephanie Straits, Roy Howman and Joel Howman; her step-grandchildren, Scott, Kim, Mike, Jeff, Jim, Jerry and Julie Young; and many great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brenda Nave; three brothers, Monroe, George and Jim Shambaugh; and two sisters, Helen Robinson and Betty Brennstuhl.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23, at 10:30 a.m. in Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, conducted by the Rev. David Koehler of Loudonville Baptist Temple. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville. Friends may call in the funeral home Friday, April 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.
