- [S927] Obituary.
John W. Young was born on May 29, 1870, near Lewisville, Ohio. He was a son of Fred and Eva Pfeiffer Young and was the last surviving member of a family of eight children. He passed away at the home of his niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Weber, on Lewisville, Route 2, on October 13, 1959. At the time of death he was 89 years, four months and sixteen days of age.
In younger manhood he spent the winters in Southern states because of ill health. In 1924 he married Zella Baxter, of Joelton, Tennessee, and established his home there. She preceded him in death in 1932. In 1934 he married Salome Buchli who passed away on May 18 of this year [1959].
In June he was brought back to Ohio by nieces and nephews who faithfully cared for him until the end.
In childhood he was baptized and confirmed into the Evangelical and Reformed faith and became a faithful Christian, teaching a men's Bible class for many years. In spite of his advanced years, he was interested in world-wide news, sports and the activities of those dear to him.
Johannes (John) Jung/Young was born on May 29, 1870. This comes from the German Church records translated by Dr. Shirley Harmon. There is no information regarding baptism in these records.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Varns at the Lewisville Church, of which he was a member, on October 17th. He was laid to rest in the chruch cemetery.
Those who loved him will remember his humble faith and kind disposition.
Like a ship that's lost its anchor
and drifts gently out to sea;
So our dear one just slept away,
To calm eternity.
The family wishes to thank all those who helped in any way and those who sent floral offerings. We shall always be grateful. NIECES and NEPHEWS
