William Clay Lacy
William Clay (Bill) Lacy, age 82, of Pinckneyville, IL, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at 4:20 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital in Pinckneyville, IL.
He was born in Pinckneyville, IL, on January 1, 1921 the son of John Guy and Bertha R. (McDonnough) Lacy. He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Fisher on November 18, 1950 in Pinckneyville, IL, and she survives.
Bill worked for the Operating Engineers Local #520. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, and also a member of the American Legion. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force. He served during World War II and was a tailgunner on the B17 with the 306th Bombardment Group.
Survivors include his wife: Barbara of Pinckneyville, one sister: Catherine C. Eisenhauer of Pinckneyville, four sisters-in-law: Nedra E. Lacy and Ruth Fisher both of Pinckneyville, Carolyn Bliss of Sapulpa, OK, and Erma Cooper of Arena, WI, and many other nieces, nephews, and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Charles C. Lacy and J. Harry Lacy.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 14, 2003, from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, August 15, 2003 from 8:00 a.m. till 9:00 a.m. at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, and then at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pinckneyville from 9:30 a.m. till the time of service.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, August 15, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. in the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church or the J.D. Jenkel Memorial Scholarship Fund.
