HARRY AND DELORES BERTSCH Harry Bertsch family Harry L. Bertsch was born near Ashley, North Dakota on October 6, 1927 to August A. and Emilia (Feiock) Bertsch. Delores K. (Beck) Bertsch was born in Eureka, South Dakota on June 4, 1932 to Arthur A. and Martha (Bertsch) Beck. Harry and Delores were married August 20, 1950 and established their home on a farm southwest of Ashley, North Dakota. At that time, there was a shortage of teachers so Delores taught in the nearby country school for one year. On December 23, 1951 their daughter DeLana was born at Ashley. She graduated from Eureka High School and Aberdeen School of Commerce. DeLana was employed as secretary at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota, and since 1973, has been employed as a computer operator at Jewett Drug Company in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The Bertsch's moved to their present farm in the fall of 1955. On November 21, 1955 Gordon was born at Ashley, North Dakota. He graduated from Eureka High School and Lake Area Vocational Technical Institute in Watertown. He is self-employed as a building contractor in Watertown. He married Janet Holland on June 16, 1979. Janet is the daughter of Lester and Delores Holland of Webster, South Dakota. They have one son, Toby Lee, born November 14, 1985. Their daughter Roxanne was born November 12, 1963 in Eureka. She graduated from Eureka High School and Lake Area Vocational Technical Institute in Watertown. She is employed at the Redfield State Hospital and School as a disability developmental technician in Redfield. The church affiliation for the Bertsch family is the First Baptist Church in Eureka where Harry has held several positions, such as Sunday School teacher, assistant Sunday School superintendent, trustee and deacon, and he is a member of the brotherhood where he has served as president and treasurer. Delores has served as president and secretary of the Womens Missionary Fellowship, Sunday School teacher, and is a member of the Christian Education Committee. Harry and Delores are both members of the church advisory board.
