John Schehl's obituary appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on January 29, 1951: Services will be held at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Michael's Catholic church at Berne for John Schehl, 80, of Berne. Rev. Stanley Zekas will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. The body has been removed to the residence from the Brubach funeral home at Summerfield. Mr. Schehl died at his home Saturday after a long illness. He was a retired farmer and had spent his entire life in Noble county. He was the son of Philip and Barbara Schehl. Surviving are his widow, Eva; four daughters, Mrs. Esther Crum of Canton, Mrs. Eunice Miller of Caldwell, Mrs. Beulah Arnold of Cleveland, and Mrs. Clara Mallett of near Caldwell; five sons, Otmer and Harold, both of Canton, Rayner of near Caldwell, Earl of Caldwell; three brothers, Alex of San Antonio, Texas, Leonard of Canton, and Chris of near Caldwell; two sis-ters, Mrs. Minnie Singer of Fulda and Mrs. Rosie Warner of Zanesville. Four brothers are deceased.

John Schehl, 80, died at his home in Berne Saturday following a long illness. He was a retired farmer and had spent all his life in Noble county. He was the son of Philip and Barbara Schehl.

He was married at the time of his death. He was born on May 10, 1870 in Ohio to Philip Schehl and Barbara Schott. The cause of eath is given as "Chronic Myocarditis." He was buried on January 30, 1951 in St. Michael Cemetery, Berne, Noble Co., Ohio. the information on the death certificate was provided by Harold Schell.
