Marilyn W. Popovich Obituary Condolences Marilyn W. Popovich VIRGINIA BEACH - Marilyn Helen Weger Popovich, 80, formerly of Delphos, Ohio, and San Mateo, Calif., passed away March, 10, 2009, following a lengthy battle with advanced dementia. She was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Van Wert, Ohio, to Lucille and Anthony Weger. She was a graduate of Saint John's Catholic School in Delphos, Ohio and San Francisco State University. She spent nearly all of her adult life near San Francisco, a city that appealed to her adventurous nature, gregarious personality and artistic flair. An avid opera lover, she attended productions of the San Francisco Opera for four decades and passed her love of music to her children and grandchildren. She worked in the San Mateo County schools for 30 years, serving as a teacher's assistant and as a reading and math specialist until illness forced her to retire in 2007. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ruth Clark and Lois Weger. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ernest Anthony Popovich of Virginia Beach; her son, David Popovich of San Francisco; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Clay Harris of Virginia Beach; her grandchildren, Spencer and Katherine Harris; her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Joan Weger of Delphos; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
