Thomas A. "Tom" Mandery, 83, died at 5:10 a.m. March 10, 2013, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home. He was born Nov. 13, 1929, in Lima to Albert and Martha Carder Mandery, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 4, 1950, he married Dorothy Dew, who died May 17, 1986. Mr. Mandery was a 1944 graduate of St. John High School, Lima. He owned and operated the Tom & Dots E-Z Check Market on St. Johns Avenue for nearly 50 years. He retired from Nickel Plate Road. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church. He was a Navy Reserve veteran. Survivors include a sister, Iona Beach, of Lima; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl (Hazel) Mandery; a sister, Helen (Jim) Murphy; and a brother-in-law, Gene Beach. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church, Lima. Father David Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Catholic Church Restoration Project, 222 S.
