Bernice Lois Vernon Hines
ASHLAND -- Bernice Lois Vernon Hines, 82, died Monday, February 26, 2007 after an extended stay at Crystal Care of Ashland. Lois was born in Presho, South Dakota, on May 30, 1924, to the late Herbert S. and Carola Ricks Vernon. She moved with her family to Jeromesville when she was 10 years old and graduated from Jeromesville High School Class of 1942.

During WWII she was employed as an inspector at Simmons Manufacturing. After the war, Lois worked at the Ashland Sanitary Market for 33 years. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she and her husband John co-founded the Friendship Sunday School Class. Lois was past president of United Methodist Women and was a member of Faith Circle of the church. Lois held many offices including past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Harry Higgins Post #88. She is survived by her husband, John O. Hines, and they were married on August 26, 1951. Also surviving are two daughters, Carol Williams of Palm Harbor, Florida and Janice Korintus of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, Dell Vernon of Wooster and one sister, Dorothy Funk formerly of Jeromesville; grandson, Matthew Paulson of Upper Arlington, Ohio; granddaughters, Katherine Paulson Mumm of Columbus, Ohio and Anna and Paula Korintus of Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Craig Vernon Hines; one sister Mary Vernon and a brother, Norman Vernon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. from Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home with the Dr. Dan Bilkert officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday evening, March 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The American Legion Auxiliary will hold services on Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. from the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, Inc., 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to the Akron Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, 1815 West Market Street, Suite 108, Akron, Ohio 44313.
