Sister Seraphica Kochert, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, died in Oldenburg, at the age of 84, on Monday, April 27.
She was born to Peter and Anna (Weisenberger) Kochert on December 24, 1912, in Lanesville. She entered the convent on October 2, 1932 and made her final vows July 2, 1938. She worked in domestic service and taught schools in Ohio, Indiana and Missouri, before her 1964 retirement to the Motherhouse.
She is survived by four sisters, Evelyn Jacobi of Palmyna, Lucille Buechler of New Salisburg, Mary Jenkins of Yellow Springs, Ohio and Ann Smith of Dayton, Ohio; and one brother, Clemence Kochert of New Albany.
The Rev. Raymar Middendoff, O.F.M., will conduct Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday, April 29, at 3 p.m., at the Sisters of St. Francis Motherhouse in Oldenburg. Visitation will be held from 1 until 3 p.m. She was interred at the Motherhouse Cemetery. Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville, assisted with arrangements.
