Funeral services for Mable E. Neuhardt, age 98 of Clarinda, Iowa, formerly of Lenox, Iowa, who died Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa will be held Friday, November 23, 2007 at 2:00.p.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home, Lenox with Reverend Gerry Kahler officiating. Visitation with the family will be held.1-2 p.m., Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Fairview Cemetery, Lenox, Iowa. A memorial will be established. Mable Elizabeth Franklin Sanburn Neuhardt was born February 12, 1909 on a farm 2 miles east of Lenox, Iowa. She was the daughter of Earl and Bessie (Litteer) Franklin. Mable grew up around and in Lenox going to country school and graduating from Lenox High School with the class of 1927. She started driving a car when she was eleven. For her first drivers license she sent 50 cents to Des Moines; a test was not required. Mable was married to Lee Sanburn on September 11, 1928 at Corning, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, Jean and Earl. They lived on farms north and south of Lenox. Mable was a member of the Lenox Methodist Church. She spent all but six years of her life around or in Lenox. Mable married Joe Neuhardt on January 1, 1968. They traveled some and enjoyed going with the Snow Mobile Club. Mable wrote the Merle Junction news for the Lenox Time Table in the late 40?s and early 50?s. In later years she wrote Party Line for the Lenox paper. Mable was a housewife, telephone operator and waitress. She transported many people to airports, Doctor?s appointments and other appointments. Mable was very proud of Lenox. She never wanted her children to forget their roots. Mable is survived by her daughter, Jean Moore and husband Marty of Clarinda, Iowa; son, Earl Sanburn and wife Jane of Wickenburg, Arizona; five grandchildren, Marilyn Shore of Clarinda, Iowa, Jeff Moore of San Diego, California; Terri Pierce of Stapleton, Nebraska, Tracy Sanburn of Stapleton, Nebraska, Cody Sanburn of Lincoln, Nebraska; eight great grandchildren, Josh Kuipers, Seth Kuipers, Lance Moore, Lindsey Eulate, Shay Kuipers, Estee Moore, Aidan Sanburn and Kade Sanburn; five great, great grandchildren, Trey Kuipers, Ethan Kuipers, Jesse Eulate,Taylor Owens; former daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sanburn of Lenox, Iowa. Preceding Mable in death were her parents; parents-in-laws; husband, Lee Sanburn (1964); husband, Joe Neuhardt (1991). Mable will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who always had time for her beloved grandchildren.
