Evelyn Ann King
BEVERLY - Evelyn Ann King, 77, of King's Drive died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 14, 2004) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Woodsfield, Ohio, to Leo and Barbara Weisend Schumacher. She and her husband, Paul, had owned and operated King's Furniture in Beverly for many years.
She graduated from Woodsfield High School in 1945. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Catholic Women's Club, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 389 and the Beta Chapter of Ohio Child Conservation League.
She is survived by her husband, Paul E. King, whom she married on Jan. 28, 1948; seven daughters, Barbara LeMaster and her husband, Tony, of Marietta, Carolyn Schwendeman and her husband, John, of Decorah, Iowa, Mary Ann Mayhew and her husband, Edward, of Amhurst, Va., Yvonne Huck and her husband, Terence, of Beverly, Kathryn Wesel and her husband, Joseph H. II, of Marietta, Jaqueline Darden and her husband, Mike, of Tampa, Fla., and Christine Noel King of Beverly; three sons, Paul E. King Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Houston, Texas, David King of Monroe, Va., and Jim King and his wife, Mary, of Sistersville, W.Va.; 31 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Block of Cincinnati and Sister Evelyn Ann Schumacher of Manitowoc, Wis.; and one brother, William Schumacher of Woodsfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Lawrence, Charles, Gilbert, Ambrose and Norbert; one sister, Mary Jennings; and one grandson, Matthew Aaron Schwendeman.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Beverly with Monsignor Robert Kawa officiating. Burial is in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly, where a rosary service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
