Oswald A. Claus

The body of Oswald A. Claus arrived in Newark Wednesday evening from Longview, Texas and was brought home where it will remain until Friday when services will be held at two o?clock. the Reverend George Varns of Lewisville, Ohio of the Evangelical and Reformed Church will officiate and burial will be made in Oaklawn cemetery, in Woodsfield.
Mr. Claus, a former resident of Woodsfield, died Tuesday morning, August 22, 1950, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hickman Merritt in Longview following a long illness.
Mr. Claus was born near Monroefield, a son of Charles and Margaret Hoff Claus. He spent most of his life in Monroe County, moving to Pittsburgh several years ago where he was in the insurance business. For the past two years he has resided with his daughters in Texas. He was a member of St. John?s Evangelical and Reformed Church near Lewisville by the rites of
Confirmation.
In addition to Mildred Merritt he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Richard (Charlotte) Brown; four grandchildren; one great grandchild, all of Texas; and one sister, Mrs. Edward (Bertha Claus) Reich, of Sycamore Street. His wife, Minnie Ludwig Claus preceded him in death in 1930.
