He was born, July 26, 1914, at Summit Township, Monroe County, son of William F. and Mary Ann Schaub Matz. He was a graduate of the Woodsfield High School with the class of 1932. He was a member of The Boy Scouts of America and the First Church of Christ Scientist, Columbus, Ohio and a retired Safety Engineer.His wife, the former Olive Cypert of Youngstown, Ohio preceded him in death on April 22, 1979.Surviving are two sons; Marvin L. of Cleveland, Ohio, David M. of New York City; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Mary Grace) Stewart, Mount Gilead, Ohio; Mrs. Robert (Martha Kaye) Dale of Framingham, Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Peter C. Stewart and Montgomery Lee Dale; three brothers, Herzel H.,Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Louis A., Woodsfield , Ralph E., Chillicothe; two sisters, Thelma Matz, Woodsfield and Mrs. Francis J. (Sarah) Borns, Iron City, Michigan and Woodsfield, Ohio.Memorial services were held Thursday, February 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Cook and Son Funeral Home, Columbus.
