Eisenhauer, office supply owner, dies at 73 HOLLY HILL -- While on a family visit to Volusia County in 1973, Charles N. Eisenhauer saw a classified ad stating Welch's Office Supply was for sale. He financed part of the Holly Hill store from the owner and sold his home in West Virginia to come up with the rest of the money. Eisenhauer, of Anniston Avenue in Holly Hill, died Wednesday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange. He was 73. Eisenhauer owned stores all over Volusia County and one in Titusville. He told The Daytona Beach News-Journal in 1989 that, "he beat the competition by offering superior service. Our interest is working hard, doing the right job and servicing our customers." Today, only one store is left in Daytona Beach, Eisenhauer Office Supply on Ridgewood Avenue. "His life was the business and taking care of his family," said his son Jim, of Ormond Beach. "Our whole family had a hand in the business. Everyone played a specific role." "I sincerely valued his time as my mentor, as well as my friend," former employee Jim Westphal said. "He taught me the value of supporting small local businesses and strengthening our county from within." Eisenhauer, a native of Wheeling, W.Va., moved to Holly Hill from Charleston, W.Va. He was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church and the Kiwanis Club in Daytona Beach. He was a graduate of Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. Survivors include two other sons, Nick, Daytona Beach, and Danny, Holly Hill; two daughters, Lynn Riegner and Terry Williams, both of Ormond Beach; two sisters, Rosemary Miller, Wheeling, W. Va., and Carole Updyke, Missouri City, Texas; and 11 grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
