"Mrs. Roy Kumpf Dies Following 1 Month Illness
Funeral services for Mrs. Lulu C. Kumpf, 78, who died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday in her home at 1611 Summer street, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Kuecks Funeral Home.
Dr. J. Dewey Muir, minister of First Methodist church of Pekin, of which Mrs. Kumpf was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
Friends may call at Kuecks' after 4 p.m. today and until time of services.
Mrs. Kumpf had been ill for approximately one month prior to her death.
Born at Ft. Collins, Colo, May 19, 1882, she was a daughter of William B. and Matilda Johnson. her marriage to Roy O. Kumpf, well - known Pekin nurseryman occurred at Peoria June 24, 1903. The couple had made their home here since their marriage nearly 58 years ago.
Mrs. Kumpf, whose mother, when she died, several years ago, was the oldest widow of a Civil War veteran in this area, was active in numerous organizations, including the WSCE of First Methodist Church, the Women's Relief Corps and the Pekin Garden Club.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Frances L. Kumpf, at home; a son Claude H. Kumpf of Hopedale; three sisters, Mrs. Tillie Burrell and Mrs. Pearl Anderson, both of Peoria, and Mrs. Marcelle Griesemer of Hopedale; and two grandchildren.
A son and a brother preceded her in death."
