Francis R. BurkhartFrancis R. "Burky" Burkhart, passed away peacefully in his sleep February 25, 2006. He was born on September 6, 1923 in Maximo, OH and attended Louisville High School. His parents were Raymond and Laura (Begue) Burkhart. He was drafted into the United States Army at the beginning of World War II and served with the 44th Infantry Division in Europe. Following the war, he joined Seiple Lithography Co. from which he retired as Vice President, Production in 1985 after 41 years of service. A longtime permanent camper at the Southfork Camping area at Leesville Lake, he loved fishing for the ever-elusive largemouth bass. He also possesed an uncommon talent to create beautiful pictures in counted cross-stitch, many of which he shared with friends as treasured gifts. Mr. Burkhart was a resident of North Canton for 55 years and was a member of Rivertree Christian Church in Jackson Township. His sister, Helen Frustaci, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Olive Ann (Huff); sons, Dennis Burkhart of Massillon, David (Mary) Burkhart of McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Jessica and Michael, both of Minneapolis, MN, Sara, a student at Michigan State University; brother-in-law, Robert Huff of North Canton and sister-in-law, Fran Lightfritz of Louisville, OH. Loved also by Burkey were his niece, Tammy Minor and her husband, John and their sons, Austin and Justin. He was deeply loved by his friends in the Supper Club to which he and Ollie belonged for over 40 years. He was a man who never knew a stranger and he will be missed by his multitude of friends, especially the younger ones who have always loved him dearly as "Uncle Burky" or "Grandpa B." Friends may call Tuesday from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Reed Funeral Home, North Canton Chapel (801 Pittsburg Rd. NW). A memorial funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Cliff Price officiating. In lieu of the flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to Siffrin Inc., 2912 Whipple Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708.
