Lester W. Landefeld, 84, of Woodsfield, formerly of Keylor Hill Road, died Monday (Dec. 25, 2000) at Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 8, 1916, in Monroe County, son of the late Herman J. and Freda (Reich) Landefeld.
Mr. Landefeld was a retired farmer, carpenter and school bus driver for the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District. He was a member of Woodsfield Church of Christ, where he had served as Elder from 1967. He was a U.S. veteran, having served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Gladys (Egger) Landefeld, who died in 1984; two sisters, Marie Riser and Mildred Christman; a brother, Walter Landefeld.
He leaves his wife, Letha (Garrett) Landefeld; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Patricia) Antonik of Bellaire; three sons, David (Joyce), Darrell (Beverly) and Duane (Barbara), all of Woodsfield; a brother, Harold of Miltonsburg; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, with services to follow at 2 p.m. Friday, with Sam Bartrug officiating.
Burial will be in Miltonsburg Community Cemetery, Miltonsburg.
