Carole Sloboda Kircher, RN
AGE: 85 • Neptune City
Carole Sloboda Kircher, died peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Liberty Royal Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born in Irvington, NJ and graduated from Irvington High School in 1945 where she participated in athletic activities and received the I.G.A award. She received her RN from Pensacola Hospital, Pensacola, FL in 1948, and also attended the University of Pennsylvania. She lived in Springfield, NJ, where she married George Kircher in 1951, and has also lived in Glendola, Wall Township, and Shark River Hills in Neptune from 1957 until 1996.
She is predeceased by her parents, John and Viola Sloboda, brother Robert, sister Elizabeth, and husband George Kircher Sr. She is survived by her children Valerie Martin (Doug), The Woodlands, TX, Karen Kircher, San Francisco, CA, Allison Lord, Ocean Township, NJ, Gaylin Kircher (Butch), Melbourne Beach, FL, George Kircher Jr., Neptune, NJ, Carole "Cookie" Miller (Jeff), Neptune City, NJ and John Kircher (Christine), Albrightsville, PA. She is also survived by her sister, Valerie Meinken, Punta Gorda, FL, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a brother in-law, a sister in law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
With her husband, Carole was a founding member of Holy Innocents Church, Neptune and a past member of the Rosary Alter Society. She was also a lifetime member of Shark River Hills Beach and Yacht Club. Her hobbies included following her NY Mets avidly, playing bingo and trips to the Showboat in Atlantic City. As a RN, she worked at American Can Company, Jersey Shore Medical Center, and in private duty.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m to 9 p.m. at Reilly Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 at Holy Innocents Church, Neptune, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover, NJ.
