Mary Routh
BROADLANDS – Mary Routh, age 82, of Broadlands passed away at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 2, 2009, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 5, at Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, with the Rev. Mark Harris officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mary was born Nov. 3, 1926, in St. Joseph, the daughter of Louie and Leona Swearingen Fiock. She married Earl "Tuck" Routh on June 20, 1945, in St. Joseph. He preceded her on March 20, 2007.
She is survived by her children, Randy Routh of Thomasboro, Diane (Charlie) Berry of St. Joseph, Linda (Todd) Shunk of Camargo, Bill (Debbie) Routh of St. Joseph; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Neva Wood of St. Joseph.
She was preceded by her parents; three sisters, Bonnie Fiock, Maureen Overman and June Head; and a brother, Conn Fiock.
Mary was a member of the St. Joseph Church of Christ, transferring to the Georgetown Church of Christ. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Broadlands. She was a member of the Broadlands Women's Club and Bridge Club. She volunteered with the Carle Foundation Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ. Mary enjoyed being with family and friends, and quilting and sewing. Mary was a homemaker and helped her husband farm.
Mary and Tuck enjoyed traveling and spending the winters at their home in Mesa, Ariz.
