AT ST. MARY'S
Funeral Services for late
Mike Grostephan Held
Saturday Morning
The funeral services for the late Mike Grostephan were held at St. Mary's church in Crittenden township in Champaign county on Saturday morning of last week, conducted by Rev. Fr. Wissing. The interment was in the cemetery there. The last rites were attended by a large number of friends of the deceased and of the family.
Mr. Grostephan died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Lecher, northeast of Tuscola on Thursday morning of last week after an illness of only a few days. He had been making his home with the Lecher family since last fall but had not been in his usual good health and was unable to successfully resist the pneumonia fever, the disease which caused his death.
The deceased was born in Alsace-Lorraine about 1848 and came to the United States in 1866, locating in Woodford county. He came to the southern part of Champaign county about 1870 and shortly afterwards was married to Mary Lux of Tolono. They made their home on a farm until a few years ago. Mrs. Grostephan died about five years ago. They had four children, Mrs. Nick Lecher, Mrs. George Lecher, Peter Grostephan, of Paulding, Ohio, and Frank J., who died about ten years ago.
