GORMAN. James L Gorman, 71, was dead on arrival at Jersey County Memorial hospital August 21. He had suffered from a heart condition, but his death was unexpected. He was a real estate broker with Curran-Gorman Realty. Born August 19, 1908 in Jersey county, he was a son of the late Bernard L & Rose Ann (Hart) Gorman. He was a member of Holy Ghost church, Fourth Degree O C, Jerseyville Moose Lodge and past Exalted Ruler of the Local Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Iva a (Hazelwonder) whom he married July 20, 1965; 1 son, James L Gorman II; 1 stepson, Frank R Poglajen, Jerseyville and 2 step daughters, Mrs Sandra L Long of Jerseyville and Sister Frances Cabrini of Belleville; 2 brothers, Louis, Jerseyville and Harry of Huntsville, AL; 2 sisters, Rosalie McDonald, St. Louis and Margaret Wuelner, Alton; and 2 grandchildren. Funeral mass was celebrated at Holy Ghost church with Fr William Hembrow celebrant. Burial was in St. Francis church. Jacoby Brothers funeral home in Jerseyville was in charge of arrangements and a rosary was recited there.
