I was thrilled to find it and it definitely makes me want to come visit the Birkenhordt / Schwanheim area. From what I see on the Internet, it is beautiful area that reminds me of where our family has our ski / hiking place, named "Die Waldhutte" in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate NY. Here is a bunch of new information. Claude Hasselwander had two other children in addition to Edna (b. Dec 26, 1923, Rochester NY, d. 5/22/2009, Rochester, NY) and James, Joanne Marie (b. March 11 1941 Rochester, NY, still living) and Alan (b. February 16 1934, still living). Joanne never married and has no children. Alan (my father) has five children, Eric James (b. June 4 1961, Rochester NY), Ann Marie (b. May 20, 1962, Rochester NY), Mark Alan (b. July 22, 1963), Amy Joanne (b. June 24, 1964), and Andy (me, b. January 11 1975 Rochester, NY). Eric, Ann, Mark, and Amy are my half brothers and sisters. My father's first wife died before I was born, Mary Ellen O'Flynn, died 11/23/70 Rochester NY--born approx 1940 but I don't have the specific date. My mother, my father's second wife, is Joan Elaine Spaker, b. August 16, 1941 Rochester, NY. I believe you have James (Jim) married to a Spaker--this is not correct. Eric, Ann, and Amy never married and have no children. Mark is married to Kelly Hasselwander (nee Chapman, b. June 22, 1966, Watkins Glen NY) and has two children Emily Hasselwander (b. February 1, 1992 Rochester NY) and Katy Hasselwander (b. July 25, 1996). I (Andy) am married to Mary Leigh Carpenter, b. June 18, 1975, Urbana Illinois. We have two children Anna Claire Hasselwander b. July 16, 2006, Washington, DC and Henry John Hasselwander b. October 8, 2010, Washington, DC. Obituary of Edna Cantillon
Cantillon, Edna M. (Hasselwander)
Rochester: Friday, May 22, 2009 at the age of 85. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband William J. Cantillon. She is survived by her brothers, Jim(Betty) of Acampo, CA and Alan C.(Joan) of Honeoye Falls; sister, Joanne Hasselwander S.S.J. of Rochester; several loving nieces, grand nieces, nephews and friends. Edna was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul conference under the able spiritual guidance of the Rev. Paul Schnaky, then pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Wayland, NY and a member of the Divine Mercy Devotion and Eucharistic Adoration. A special thank you to the staff on the 18th floor of the Heritage and also the Palliative Care Unit.
Her family will receive friends TUESDAY 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Friends are invited to meet the family WEDNESDAY 10:00 AM at ST. ANNS HOME CHAPEL for her funeral mass. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family requests Masses for the repose of her soul. Edna thanks her brothers and especially her sister, Sr. Joanne Hasselwander S.S.J. for their love and care of her and her deceased parents for giving her a solid catholic education by the good Sisters of Mercy, Sisters of St. Joseph and the Lord for giving her a loving God fearing husband.
