Clarence Koah

Clarence Koah, 88, of Brighton Township, died Saturday, May 5, 2007. Clarence was born July 12, 1918, in New Brighton, a son of the late Clarence J. Koah and Hazel (Hayden) Koah. Clarence proudly served his country as a Ship Fitter 2nd Class in the Naval Construction Battalion from May 1942 to November 1945. Clarence was a 51- year member of the American Legion. He was a life member of the Rochester American Legion Post 498 and a former member of Post 498 Drum and Bugle Core; a 24-year member of the Warrington Post 240 and a life member of the Island 13 Seabee's, both of Pensacola, Fla. Clarence was presently a member of the Anderson Adkins Post 19 of New Brighton. He worked as a welder and pipe fitter for the H.H. Robertson Co. of Ambridge, retiring in 1980.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mabel (Veiock) Koah; sons, Gary Koah of Albany, Ga., and David Koah and his wife, Jean Barberini Koah, of State College, Pa.; a daughter, Carole Gebhard, of Brighton Township, and her husband, Michael Gebhard of Chippewa Township; six grandchildren, Michelle Chemini and her husband, Mark, of Big Beaver; Brian Gebhard of Washington D.C.; Gary and Dennis Koah of Pittsburgh, and Dan and Tim Koah of State College; four great-grandchildren, and an aunt, Jean Hayden White of Chippewa Township.The family wishes to thank the staff at Friendship Ridge 2 East and all the personnel at The Medical Center for the compassionate care given him the past two years and through his recent illness. There was no public viewing. Private interment will take place at Grove Cemetery. Arrangements made by GABAUER FUNERAL HOME INC., Rochester.
