Bio: Susan Kay Locher, the youngest of eight children, was born September 1, 1951 at Saint Olaf Hospital in Austin to her parents, Ray and Regina Catherine (Weiss) Locher. She was baptized and confirmed at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, attending Queen of Angels Grade School and graduated Austin Pacelli in in 1970. Sue attended Austin Community College 1970-1971, Rochester Vocational School 1971-1972 and graduated as a certified registered dental assistant. She also attended the University of Minnesota Duluth 1974-1975. For a short time she worked in Rochester as a dental assistant for Dr. John Sund and from 1976-1984 assisted Dr. HJ Swift in Austin, Minnesota. On June 18, 1973 she married Kenneth Lloyd Rauen at Queen of Angels. Ken was the son of Mr. and Mrs John Rauen of Stacyville, Iowa. Ken was injuried in a construction accident shortly after they married and passed away August 31, 1973.On March 31, 1979 Sue was married to Raymond Parnel Bjornson at Queen of Angels. To this union two very wonderful children were born, Sarah Jean (3 Years old in 1985) and Erik Ray (2 years old in 1985).Sue loved her children very much, and about 1984 she decided to quit working and concentrate on homemaking, her children and her flowers. She spent numerous hours working in her flower gardens and sharing them with others. She also loved to travel and had been in Europe twice and Hawaii three times. She was looking forward to the time when her children would be able to travel with her.Susan was a very beautiful, sensitive, loving person who had a smile on her face, a sparkle in her eye, and always had time to visit with her many friends and relatives.Sue died unexpectedly at her home (Rt. 3, Austin) on June 14, 1985. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 18, 1985, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with the Rev. G.C. Knutson of Our Saviors, the Rev. Patrick Lawler of Queen Angels, and the Rev. Clint Becker (a family friend) from Waseca officiating. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray 1963, her mother, Regina 1977, and her first husband, Ken 1973.Although only 33, she had touched the lives and hearts of oh so many people; thank God for the years we had with our Susan Kay.The following poem by Ida Scott Taylor had special meaning to Sue: One DayAt a time--this is enough.Do not look backand grieve overthe past, for it is gone...and do not be troubledabout the future, for it has not yet come.Live in the present, and make it so beautifulthat it will be worthremembering.I miss you cousin Susan. Thanks to Austin Public Library and the Daily for a modified version of her Obituary."Little lamb Susan, who made thee?Does thou know who made thee,Gave thee life, and bid thee feedBy the stream and o'er the mead;Gave thee clothing of delight,Softest clothing, woolly, bright;Gave thee such a tender voice,Making all the vales rejoice?Little lamb, who made thee?Does thou know who made thee?Little lamb, I'll tell thee;Little lamb, I'll tell thee:He is called by thy name,For He calls Himself a Lamb.He is meek, and He is mild,He became a little child.I a child, and thou a lamb,We are called by His name.Little lamb Susan, God bless thee!Little lamb, God bless thee!"
