Merle L. Reich, 68, of Gahanna, OH, passed away on April 10, 2017. He was born in Woodsfield, OH, August 28, 1948, a son of the late Clarence and Melba (Heft) Reich. Merle graduated from Woodsfield High School in 1966 and The Ohio State University in 1970.
Merle was a life long member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Woodsfield. He had a 40 year career in sales for Diem and Wing/Ris Paper Company. He had a love of all sports, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians and had a passion for playing golf. He was a member of the Highlands Country Club in Pataskala, OH, for over 40 years and took many golfing trips with his friends.
Merle is survived by a sister, Mary E. (Matt) Bartilson of Hilliard OH, and a brother, Paul (Darla) Reich of Middletown OH. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Annette (Pete) Lieb, Ellen (Terry) Woodford, Bryan (Myra) Bartilson, Kirk Reich, and Kori (Scott) Markle, many grand nieces and grand nephews and a special cousin and lifelong friend, Steve (Joyce) Heft, and many close friends.
In addition to his parents, Merle was proceeded in death by a special friend, Jackie Lindsay and a special companion dog, Rootbeer.
Friends may call on April 14 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Schoedinger Funeral Home, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH. An open grave side service will be held at 11:00am on April 15 at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Woodsfield, OH.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Merle's care givers from Home Helpers, especially his primary care giver, Tiana Green.
