WOODSFIELD ? Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, for Franklin I. Hanson, 88, of Woodsfield, who died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta.
The Rev. Lynda Masters will officiate. Military graveside services and burial will be at Stafford Cemetery, Stafford.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m.
He was born Jan. 29, 1913, near Stafford, son of the late Marion Ira and Emma May (Lumbatis) Hanson.
Mr. Hanson was a 1932 graduate of Franklin Local High School, Stafford, and also Wheeling Barber College in Wheeling, W.Va.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II from January 1943 to February 1946 in the European Theatre. He was a retired barber, having barbered for approximately 50 years in Zanesville, Martins Ferry and Woodsfield. He worked locally from 1946 to 1990 in the Everett Briggs Barber Shop, Woodsfield.
He was a member of Sutherland Methodist Church, Lewisville. He was a former member of Knights of Pythias, and past master and 50 year member of Stafford Masonic Lodge 300, Free and Accepted Masons, Stafford. He was an avid bowler and golfer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Louisa (McVay) Hanson, who died Sept. 14, 1999; and a brother, Marion LeRoy Hanson.
He leaves a sister, Frances Hanson Scott of Belpre; two nieces, Mrs. Paul (Linda) Lafferre and Carol Hanson, both of Lewisville; three nephews, Stephen (Sharon) Hanson of Belle Valley, David Hanson and Eugene Hanson, both of Lewisville; several great-nieces and nephews; several great-great-nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, June Hanson of Lewisville; and a brother-in-law, Edgar E. McVay of Stafford. (Paid)
