Mrs. Smithberger had made her home in Canton for the past four years and had been in poor health during this period. She was born at Burkhart, Monroe County, March 16, 1881, a daughter of the late Peter and Mary Burkhart Weisend. Surviving are her husband, Henry Smithberger, of Lewisville, Route 1; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Kenney and Mrs. Crum, of Canton, and Mrs. Genevieve Kuhn, of near Lewisville; twenty-one grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a brother, Andrew Weisend, of Barnesville, and a sister, Mrs. Leo (Katie) Brooks of Woodsfield. A daughter, Mrs. Irene Zwick, preceded her in death. A Requiem High Mass was solemnized in St. Joseph's Church, Burkhart, on Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, with Rev. Joseph Finan officiating.
